The International Community School is a non-profit organisation, providing a high-quality British based education for boys and girls aged 3-18.
In September 2009, the ICS will re-open on a new site south of Amman, close to the Airport Highway. New classroom, laboratory, ICT, performance and sporting facilities will further enhance teaching and learning.
Small classes enable teachers to focus upon children as individuals. Highly motivated teaching staff are U.K. trained and kept up to date with recent educational developments through in-service training. Children without previous English are welcomed, and intensive English language support allows them to be integrated swiftly into classroom learning. French is introduced to pupils from Year Three; Arabic is offered as an option from the Reception Class, and as a core subject in KS 3.
The school follows UK National Curriculum guidelines, including Primary literacy and numeracy strategies, and field trips and outings ensure that full use is made of the local environment. Students in Years 10/11 follow a curriculum based on the GCSE (Edexcel) or the IGCSE (Cambridge) syllabus for different subjects. Years 12/13 offer a range of GCE A-level courses.
Each term, a rich variety of extra-curricular activities is offered to help children develop wide interests and a healthy zest for life. Parental involvement in the school is encouraged and there is an active Parent/Teachers Association which is represented on the Management Committee of the School.

The 'infant' section as described here is comprised of the Reception Class in the Foundation Stage and Years 1 & 2 children for Key Stage 1. There is one Reception Class and three Key Stage 1 classes: Year 1, Year 1/2 and Year 2. The Key Stage 1 classes follow the same planning cycle allowing for children to complete the coverage of the curriculum over the two year cycle.
Reflecting the philosophy of the school though children are taught in class or group situations, we concentrate on the progress of the individual and how he / she can make the best progress in a rigorous, caring community.

The 'junior' section as described here is comprised of the Key Stage 2 classes: Years 3, 4, 5 & 6. The classes are arranged in teams, the lower KS2 team and the upper KS2 team. In each team there are three classes, designated Year 3 and 4 classes with a comined years class making the third; the upper KS2 team has a similar pattern. The Key Stage 2 classes follow the same planning cycle allowing for children to complete the coverage of the curriculum over the two year cycle: in some classes the children in any given year group combine to work on a theme / subject.
Reflecting the philosophy of the school children are taught in class or group situations, though we concentrate on the progress of the individual and how he / she can make the best progress in a rigorous, caring community.

The secondary years started their development six years ago and has staedily developed year on year. The whole school has benefited from these additional years as their curriculum and classroom needs have been a catalyst to several new site developments, which all can enjoy.
The Key Stage 3 classes are Years 7, 8 & 9 and pupils are assessed by the national tests in England at the end of Year 6 in English Mathematics and Science. Key Stage 4 classes are Years 10 & 11 and follow a two year curriculum based on the GCSE/IGCSE syllabus on up to eleven subjects.
