Jumeirah Primary School was established in September 1996 and the purpose-built premises opened in 1998 in Jumeirah, a pleasant residential area of Dubai. The school to provides an independent National Curriculum of England school for expatriate children whose parents reside in Dubai and offers places to English speaking children; there is no support for speakers of English as a second language. The facilities are excellent and include a 25 metre swimming pool, two tennis courts, and artificial grass field in addition to playgrounds, and a large multi-purpose hall, 3 computer suites and an excellent library. There are specialist teachers for music, swimming, PE, Arabic (from Y1) and French (from Year 3). The JPS Achievement Centre supports children throughout the school with qualified Dyslexia Teachers, an Educational Psychiatrist and programmes for more able, gifted and talented children. Children are given every opportunity to develop their personal strengths not just in the classroom but also in extra curricular activities. Teachers come to school for lessons such as ballet, karate and tennis coaching; older children are taken to use outside facilities for sailing, golf and horse riding. JPS arranges a wide variety of music lessons. Each week some 65 extra curricular activities take place. Above all, we place great value on the children being happy in their learning. We generate a community ethos by involving parents in day to day activities and in the development of their child’s learning.
