Founded in 1958 as a non-profit organisation, the aim of The British Overseas School is to deliver a very high standard of UK education (the National Curriculum of England and Wales) by trained staff. The School caters for expatriate and local children from Pre-Nursery through to A Level. The Edexcel GCSE, IGCSE and A Level examinations are offered and the School is an independent Edexcel Examination Centre.
The British Overseas School is housed in modern, purpose-built facilities in a quiet suburb of Karachi. Our continual investment in facilities, equipment and staff development ensures that our students make the most of their time with us. This is partly reflected in our impressive examination results and university placements as well as the wealth of extra curricular activities, which include music, chess, drawing, creativity and craft, tae-kwon-do, modern dance, ballet, football and cricket. However it is also shown in the character development of our students. We are proud of their creativity, sense of responsibility and enthusiasm for learning.
As part of their personal development the School encourages the students to participate in field trips and excursions, eg. visits to Lahore, the Hunza Valley, the ancient city of Moenjodaro, turtle watching and heritage sites in Karachi city. We also encourage links with a variety of other schools, support of charitable organisations and opportunities to visit examples of good citizenship eg. Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation.
