The school has steadily grown and it now serves both the British and international expatriate community in Maadi, Digla, New Maadi and occasionally other parts of Cairo. It is governed by a Board of Governors and is administered by the Head Teacher of the Nursery School and the Head Teacher of the Primary School. Approximately 45% of the pupils are British with a representation of over twenty nationalities altogether. The school curriculum, organization, ethos and philosophy emphasise British heritage, customs and culture while nurturing cross-cultural respect and understanding.
The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum and where appropriate, pupils are encouraged to excel and develop well beyond average National Curriculum levels. The school endeavours to ensure that current practices in the UK are administered throughout the school in a stimulating and caring environment by enthusiastic and qualified teaching staff. Good teacher/pupil ratios are offered and specialist teachers ensure that all pupils have the maximum opportunities to attain their full potential whatever their ability level. This includes a Learning Support Department for SEN and EAL pupils.
Our Mission Statement
Maadi British International School provides a supportive and caring environment for children aged 3 – 11yrs. Pupils are encouraged to reach their full academic potential and enabled to develop physically, morally, creatively and socially. A love of learning and a positive self-image are highly valued, as are independence and responsibility. The school ethos underpinned by respect and appreciation for the variety of beliefs and cultures within our international community, as well as our commitment to the highest standards of British Education.
MBIS pupils truly are……… “Learning for life”
