Have you successfully attended and completed Penta Level 1? This is your opportunity to further develop your inspection skills and knowledge...
The course is a more advanced exploration of the key skills required to be a successful school inspector. As with Level 1, topics covered include preparation for the inspection, the processes involved seeking evidence (including lesson observations and interviews with colleagues & students) and writing reports. On this course, there is greater emphasis on the documentation side, on analysis and on writing/editing.
It focusses in particular on BSO, BSO(i) and will cover all aspects of the new framework. It provides the final training before being invited to participate in a live inspection (Level 3)
It is the second of three stages of training and is assessed. As such, there will be an examination process at the end of the course. Those passing the course will receive a certificate of completion from Penta International and the BSME. You cannot attend Level 2, unless you have completed Level 1 successfully. The course is hard work during the day: then there is ‘homework’, usually tasks which will be discussed with other members. The third stage of training is free.
Your facilitator, Colin Dyson is one of the most experienced trainers and inspectors working in the Middle East today. He has worked as subject leader in ICT, science and PE, and has wide experience of excellent schools, as well as turning round less successful schools.
Prior to working for Penta, Colin was a Headteacher (three times!) in the UK and a Local Authority Consultant. He has had two international headships, and then started in school inspection, training and consultancy. OFSTED trained, he is the most experienced Lead Inspector working with the BSO framework, and of BSME accreditation visits.
He has trained and/or inspected in most countries in MENA region and beyond – Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and many more. He runs courses on the Creative Curriculum, on School Self-Evaluation, and on being an Internal School Inspector.
