Back for another year running, Dubai Heights Academy proudly hosted its second annual Student Mental Health Carnival, an inspiring event run by students, for students across Dubai.
Organised and led by their very own Student Wellbeing Ambassadors, with support from the school’s dedicated staff wellbeing team, the event welcomed delegates from seven Dubai schools - Kent College Dubai, The Millennium School, Jebel Ali School, Arcadia British School, Safa Community School, Safa British School, and GEMS Metropole School. Together, students came together to take part in this meaningful initiative promoting mental health and wellbeing.
Centred around the theme “Thrive Around the World,” the day began with inspiring talks from guest speakers including Alison Lamb, Principal of Dubai Heights Academy; Danielle Walsh, former Dubai Heights Academy teacher; Tahira Mohamed from Youth Council; and Zainab Hameed, Parent Wellbeing Ambassador from Dubai Heights Academy. Each speaker shared valuable insights into the importance of different pillars of wellbeing including grit, resilience, compassion and connection.
Students then embarked on a full day of interactive activities; collaborating with peers to explore wellbeing initiatives from around the world, creating engaging wellbeing booths to present their findings, preparing their own healthy bento boxes, and contributing to the Global Wall of Wellbeing with personal reflections and messages of positivity.
Arushi Bhatia, Head of Wellbeing and School Counsellor, shared:
“Our second Mental Health Carnival was a celebration of connection, awareness, and community spirit. Each activity, conversation, and smile reminded us that wellbeing isn’t a one-day event - it’s a shared journey that we all take together.”
With mental health and wellbeing increasingly recognised as global priorities, Dubai Heights Academy, rated Outstanding by KHDA for their wellbeing provision, remains committed to promoting student wellbeing and sharing best practices. Events like this provide valuable opportunities to connect, collaborate and learn from one another.
