On Saturday, 12th April 2025, English School Fahaheel, in partnership with Gulf University of Science and Technology, successfully hosted the second High School Journalism Conference in Kuwait.
Over 200 students from several schools from across Kuwait participated in this memorable event.
The event started with a short, inspiring keynote speech from Mrs.Claudia Al Rashoud, educating students about the danger of believing everything we see online without thorough research.
After this, all the students took part in the first workshop of the day - “How to overcome public speaking fear”, facilitated by Dr. Ali A Dashti.
The students then attended an optional workshop from the three on offer:
Workshop 1: Photography - “Capturing stories through the lens”. Facilitated by Mr Hasan Qurban
Workshop 2: Digital Journalism - ”Reporting your stories in the digital age”, Facilitated by Dr Nermeen Kassem
Workshop 3: Creative Writing - ”Conflict-oriented drama: from an idea to a short story”, Facilitated by Miss Marwa Marafie
The most awaited panel discussion on “Youth perspective on current issues” completed the programme, where five students, alongside Mr Andrew Worthington from the British Embassy formed on the panel.
An awards ceremony was held to conclude the event. All in all, it was an inspiring, fun, and unforgettable day!
