GEMS Winchester School Dubai (WSD) has become the first school in the Middle East to achieve the prestigious AI Quality Gold Mark from the Good Future Foundation, a recognition that celebrates excellence, ethics, and innovation in artificial intelligence integration across education. This milestone highlights WSD’s leadership in shaping future-ready learning for all members of the school community.
The award, confirmed in June 2025, followed a rigorous external review of nine domains including leadership, curriculum design, professional development, inclusion, and safeguarding. WSD earned top ratings in leadership and vision, curriculum planning, and professional development, reflecting its coherent strategy for embedding AI across teaching, learning, and operations. Underpinning this success is a clear strategic vision: to make AI an enabler of inclusion, creativity, and deeper learning. At WSD, AI is not treated as a trend but as a tool to enhance equity and opportunity – supporting students of determination, extending challenge for the most able, and streamlining teacher workload through intelligent systems that analyse patterns and trends.
Professional learning has been central to WSD’s journey. A whole-school CPD programme empowers teachers to innovate responsibly, with AI Champions in both Primary and Secondary phases leading evidence-based practice
These champions ensure that pedagogy, ethics, and technology progress hand in hand, creating a confident teaching culture that continuously adapts to rapid change. Equally, parental engagement has been pivotal. Workshops, seminars, and newsletters have helped families understand AI’s potential and pitfalls – especially around misinformation and online safety.
